My feeling is that Donny bites his lip when it comes to Marie. I know a person that worked at a major retailer and waited on Donny and Bonko at different times. Said Donny was super nice and cordial. Also waited on Bronco M. Total arrogant prick.
I noticed where Kandilyn Jays xwife took her maiden name back. She also put on her facebook page if you were friends with Jay on facebook she would unfriend you.
After listening to you, my friends from the other side of the pond, I realise how fortunate we are to live in an (almost)'Osmond-Free Zone." I'm trying to find out if Donney's visit to the UK was a temporary one.(Fingers crossed)
If there's somebody irritating we're sending over to you, please advise. Regards.
Thanks iffy. Well, I agree 100% about Brand. He is awful. Why he was not thrown out of the States from day one I'll never know. I'm embarrassed he's British.
The boys were rock stars with girls throwing themselves at them...I'm guessing not everyone waited for marriage...but the dad was a ballbuster and probably locked them in at night. who knows?
my bad, not "dad"...."Father" (and Mother) - weirdos. The cheesy nice thing is part of their schtick....just like other moes.
My husband's apartment was across from Marie's when they were students at BYU. He used to finagle invitations for FHE's over there. He said they were pretty spectacular events with GA types coming to visit for the lessons.
He washed dishes with Marie one night. I'm pretty sure they didn't have sex. So I'm reporting that she was still a virgin when he left. (Although I can't be sure about all the other co-eds he met on campus). heh.
The effect of the '70s Osmonds is incalculable; were it not for the rock 'n rolling Osmonds, Mo youth music would only rock as hard as the Lawrence Welk Show.
Several years ago, Donny hosted a new version of The Pyramid Game show, originally hosted by Dick Clark. (I think Dick's production company did the new one, too).
The local TV station sponsored a tryout here in Las Vegas, and as I remember, I took the day off to go the Rio Casino/Hotel for the tryout. I waited in line for a couple of hours.
I forget how it worked, but I was selected to go into a secondary audition to do some written testing and also some game testing.
Donny was there for about 30 minutes during this process and was friendly to everyone, shaking hands etc. I don't think he had much to do with the results but I apparently was good enough to get asked to appear on the TV show. The Dick Clark version was always one of my favorite game shows. And yes, I have more than one !
-Donny is a decent enough guy. He wasn't lying when he disclosed his severe social anxiety, though, which can lend itself to being seen as a jerk by others who don't know him.
-Marie is a headcase who doesn't realize how much of a headcase she can be. Obvious, OBVIOUS signs of abuse as a child and teenager that probably continued into her adulthood. (Yes, I am saying she was sexually abused, and the perp was a LOT closer than she'll ever admit.)
-My ex-father-in-law did indeed work for Virl (one of the two oldest deaf brothers), and was happy enough to out one of the performing brothers as gay by name, while mentioning that another performing brother (name not disclosed) was a serial adulterer going back many years.
-The other brothers besides Donny are pretty well-known as pompus jerks who will gladly take pay to peddle every stupid MLM or shifty Utah-based business that comes down the pike.
It's like you want me to out the "gay" Osmond who has had to live his life completely closeted for religious, social and financial reasons. (My ex-FIL never named the adulterer.)
I've told this story before. Some of the Osmond brothers (not sure if Donny was there) did a youth fireside in my stake. Before the closing prayer the guy conducting said we could go up and meet them (the chapel was full). I don't think he was supposed to do that. However, they stayed after and anyone that wanted to could go up and shake their hands. I thought it was nice of them to stay. They didn't have to do that. They had some interesting things to say about rock stars they had met and they liked Led Zeppelin.
They are entertainers and that's what they know. They need to make a living so it's not surprisng they are selling whatever product they can through their websites. They lost a lot of money on the studio they built in Utah and were basically broke at that time.
The original Osmond Brothers started out with bubble-gum music but eventually became a rock band and they wrote their own songs. That is what they wanted to do and it must have been terrible for the older performing brothers that were doing the rock band to have to abandon it because their father wanted them to focus on the Donny and Marie show.
They are all talented people. They play multiple instruments, they write music, and they had some of the best harmonies in the business. Every once in a while I get into a mood and listen to some of their old rock albums. They had a record label for a brief time that was called Kolob Records. They did a "concept" album called "The Plan" that was based on their beliefs as Mormons. It was described by some as progressive rock.
I'll bet it was hard on them having to be perfect. Many eyes were on them and I'm sure there was a lot of pressure on them to make the church look good.
I'd forgotten about the record label called Kolob Records - of course we all knew in the 70's what the significance of that was. I wonder how the church leaders would explain that one away today!
