I'd been reading and contemplating a lot stuff about the pending Kelly/Dehlin disciplinary actions, when it hit me: why is an institution that supposedly has the power of God at its fingertips so bent out of shape over a few members raising some heterodox issues? It's the F-ing Kingdom of God on Earth, with Jesus Himself in the driver seat, right? Unstoppable against the amassed forces of the Prince of Darkness! Boo-yah, Priesthood Power!!! But it's acting like a frail, terrified little child. The brethren could have simply said, "We believe these people are wrong," and left it at that, acting maturely and wisely. Instead, they're losing their sh!t over a small annoyance. It's actually rather funny to witness.

Maybe the leaders think that these "mice" are changing the attitudes of members? The truth is that people's attitudes have moved on from the 1950's without the influence of any of the current mice.

It is entirely the leaders' fault. If they had followed god's instructions by gathering "the saints" to "Zion" then they could have insulated the sheep from the evil influences of the world. If they excommunicate everyone who disagrees with 1950's philosophies then there aren't going to be many tithe payers left. It could be time to start gathering unto Zion again.
