So let's imagine all the possible movies about Mormons:

(1) A Movie about the Church's version of how Mormonism started.

(2) A Movie about a historically accurate and properly critical
version of how Mormonism started

(3) A Movie about the Church's (losing) battle with the
government over polygamy.

(4) A Movie about the crisis of faith that many of us exmos
went through with all its attendant shunning and reprimands for
being logical and consistent.

(5) A Movie about average Mormons complete with all their human
flaws and foibles.

(6) A Movie about a sanitized version of the Mormon experience
of a few, hand-picked Mormons.

Of these six Movies, which would be the most boring? Which
would be the least interesting to sit through for an hour and a
half? Which would leave you feeling you hadn't gotten your
ticket-money's worth?

It seems to me that (6) is, far and away, the least interesting
movie that could be made about Mormons. The Church has gone
overboard making versions of (1) and showing them in their
visitor centers. But they wouldn't dare release any of those
to general screening AND GENERAL CRITICAL REVIEW.

So in their attempt to appear "normal" they opt for the most boring approach.

Oh, Gag!

You're right -- after they have made all the money they can off of this movie (selling it to TBM's of course, cuz who else would waste their money on it), they WILL put it into their Visitors Centers and inflict it on innocent tourists.

#6 is more fun than watching the paint dry on their phony facade.
