The dad said they couldn't afford the weddings. I bet the couples didn't get much in wedding gifts either. I hope they are all happy though it was hard for me to watch it.
Shame on those girls - you could tell some of their dresses weren't pure white. They were very strict about that back in the mid-90s when I got married. I'm kidding, of course, about the need for strict white, which I thought was ridiculous back then. My SIL put an awesome red lace overskirt over her temple white wedding dress that she put on for the reception and pictures. It totally suited her personality and it looked terrific.
I imagine some of those getting married were sons - I wonder how their future wives liked having to share their wedding day with their future SILs. I'd have been pissed.
I know the grandparents and if I am remembering correctly, there was only one grandson getting married, who is a pilot. The grandfather was also a pilot, hence the aircraft musuem.
Maybe they will all leave the CULT together too and then write a book about it..... "Five CULTers who found critical thinking and lost the CULT." That would sell.
Some people will do anything to be in the spotlight on THE LD$ cult news channel in the land of Zion.
I wish one of them would have announced also how disappointed they were in the cult wedding ceremony. That news I would not complain about being spotlighted.
I was in Mesa that day for another friend's wedding at the Mesa temple. During her reception that night, I heard through the grapevine that the reception for the "Mega Wedding" was totally PACKED with people and that the air conditioning had gone out. Ha! Imagine what a nightmare that must have been. It was nearly 115 degrees all that week-- it was sweltering. Standing outside the temple for my friend's pictures was torture!! (Happy for my friend though.)
Talk about family and social pressure! Now they all have to keep competing to have the perfect marriage the rest of their lives based upon how they measure up to their siblings (or so I would think)
If any of them found the temple ceremony weird or jarring they are now under tremendous pressure to act like everything is A-OK. The Emperor looks *Awesome* in his new clothes -dontcha think?!?! Talk about peer pressure. The first one to crack will be viewed as the ultimate homewrecker.
