So, unlike 30 years ago when something like this could have gone mostly under the radar, the internet is going to almost guarantee that they will need to address that quote/claim. It's not going away.

Will they try to explain it away by saying something lame like intellectual knowledge and spiritual knowledge are different?

Or will everyone just think of it as a little good old fashioned lyin' for the Lord, kinda like the Hinkley interview?

Or will it just not matter because it was said by lawyers, not the Prophet? Is this possibly why they are using non-LDS lawyers, so they can maintain some level of plausible deniability?

I just can't imagine how someone could hear that and not have a reaction to it. Even one of the ladies on the BBC board said something about how huge of a statement that is.

no, I'm saying most tbms don't know about the trial, let alone the statement.

but think of primary defination of faith: things hoped for, not seen. They think religious stuff isn't provable.

"I believe the church is true" as opposed to "I know the church is true."
