... tell them something along the lines of "I forgive you".
And if you can work in a scriptural reference about their stiff neck or hardened heart, all the better. (For example - "I understand where you are coming from and I forgive your stone heart and closed mind. I really do. If your religion makes you genuinely happy, I wish you the best. However, that does not mean that I will not stand in support of those whom it has harmed.")

Say it sincerely, of course. It drives them absolutely crazy to think that THEY are being "forgiven" by the likes of us!

Let them feel how condescending and infuriating it feels to be on the receiving end of it...

This works too:

"I'd like to bear my testimony, and I know your Church ain't true. And I know Joseph Smith was a false prophet. And that he pulled translation of the BoM out of his ass."

...how one Ex-Mormon scholar, DuWayne Anderson, used to respond to TBMs on the alt.religion.mormon newsgroup when they would post nasty personal attacks, false accusations, vile insults, etc. DuWayne would simply copy the TBMs' nasty comments and reply with "A message from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints."

That is brilliant! What a great way to call attention to how "Christlike" they are.

Now, someone could do that but with the person saying "I'm a Mormon" to go against that ad campaign.

I kind of did this. It shuts them right up. I was having a slightly heated discussion on the Martinburg wv case. (I used to live there. ) The tbm I was conversing with was very defensive and told me " well you are biased" I said "so are you, you won't even consider that maybe these leaders were wrong. You are defending them blindly. No research no reading the articles, you don't know the people involved and yet you defend the leaders. .. that is bias" conversation ended right there.
