I found the following quote on the LDS website called "Mormon Messages" describing a video:

"Overcoming Pornography Addiction: The Healing Power of Jesus Christ (5:47) | Mormon Messages
Pornography addiction is "a plague like we have never seen," but God knows about this and has provided an escape through the healing power of Jesus Christ."

Is it just me, or is this the single most offensive trivialization, the most ludicrously disrespectful, the most blatant violation of the commandment to "not take the name of The Lord thy God in vain" you have ever come across?

I don't claim to be a Christian, mind you. But even I wouldn't make such a mockery of Yeshua ben Yosef's death at Roman hands as these Mormons do in this video.

Let's see: "a plague like we have never seen..." I would agree with that. A plague, a veritable infestation, of masturbators unleashed on society. Sounds like one of the horsemen of the apocalypse is coming. Forget the moon turning to blood, it will actually turn to something far more key clogging and hard to remove from hair.

This is nothing short of asinine. If I never heard one other stupid, immoral thing the church has done in all its entire history, this little video blurb would be enough.

God has nothing to do with this twaddle. The hideous banality of it makes my short hairs stand.

Imagine it! With all the real problems on the planet, the good folks at LDS inc., focus on one that is so utterly ridiculous, so utterly disconnected from morality, and then throw the name of the being they claim to worship in to legitimize it!

NOTHING is sacred to these phonies. Cynical, disingenuous, trivializing, fraudulent excuses for morality instead of really helping people in need. How many families has this pseudo-morality destroyed?? Good men and women convinced that they are part of the "plague"?

What's next? Demonizing nose-picking? Bed-wetters? The plague of Sunday park-goers?

This church comes right out of a comic book. Is no one in charge here?

I will grant that the porn industry seems to demean and trivialize women and sex. I will grant that the girls and sometimes boys who sell their images are exploited.

But guess what...once again the LDS church has NOTHING to say about the real evils of exploitation and abuse. It thinks the only moral evils associated with pornography are the thoughts and actions of the viewers.

Once again, as always, when there are REAL moral questions to answer, LDS is AWOL.

You nailed it! TSCC doesn't care about the exploit of "adult industry workers" --they made their choice to go into that line of work, right? They are, therefore, despicable people best shunned. Or so the brethren would have us think.

Contrast that with Jesus who showed up at a dinner with two prostitutes "sinners in KJV".

The Morg uses sex and natural desires against their members. Does this work? Fuck yes! Everyone has sexual desires, it's encoded in our DNA. So those desires become the tools of enslavement. Don't look at porn becomes forbidden fruit and a challenge. What better way to force folks deeper into the cult--repression, release, guilt, reinforcement. Boner.

Funny...most mainstream Christian churches don't condone porno, but masturbation is usually allowed or at least left of to the individual to decide if it is wrong.
