HAve you ever heard this? This is what I overheard at a family dinner recently.

Smith was the most intelligent--in ways that matter--human besides the Lord Savior Master (insert some other Mormon endearment because they use them all) Jesus Christ.

And really, it's not fair to compare anyone with Jesus because he had the whole god thing stacking his deck.

I told them I think that Newton, Leibnitz, Einstein, or Gauss may have been *slightly* more intelligent.

But not, according to them, in TRUE intelligence.

I didn't want to offend them , but really was perplexed. Do they really think that is true?

The people of North Korea might disagree with their idea.

Their "Dear Leader" and his subsquent offspring would obviously have the highest true intelligence.

Oh I definitely believe that, except that they left out just one word......

Horny Joe was the second greatest CON man to ever walk the earth.

The greatest is still open to debate.

Statements like these are based on Mormon scripture:

D&C 135:3 - Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it.

A case could be made that he was one of the worst men to have ever lived, but there's no arguing with "scripture".

Now that I think about it he might be the second greatest man to ever walk the earth as long as "Doctor" Mesmer was the greatest.

Thank you FungalElements1 for being aware and at least willing to speak of such an obvious formative influence upon the young horny Joseph Smith,jn

He wasn't the 499 millionth greatest man to ever walk the earth....if he's so great, I'd ask an enthralled TBM, then why have billions of humans NEVER heard of him or his evil fucking cult?

Wait a minute...Joseph Smith is supposed to be the most intelligent man who ever lived? What happened to him being humble and uneducated? Isn't he supposed to be someone who could barely construct a coherent sentence let alone write the B of M?

if your definition of "the greatest man" is a spineless fraction of a man, a POS, a sniveling bovine - well than yes he is.

Joseph Smith the second greatest man to ever "walk the earth"? That statement borders on Blasphemy.

Since the D&C was written BY J.S. and since he was clearly a megalomaniac.... doesn't surprise me in the least bit that the D&C would make such a statement.

What an ego that man must have had.

He was a convicted con man who stole other men's wives and yet they sing praise to the man. He may even be responsible for the assassination attempt on Governor Boggs.

It makes me shudder now.

I guess it makes sense in their worldview, but that just shows how limited their thinking is.

Ranking the greatest men in history is a bit subjective.

Jesus put his vote in for John the Baptist, whom he described as the greatest one born of women.

So, the number 2 slot is open for discussion. After reading of him for the last 35 years, Joseph Smith just doesn't appear to be a strong candidate. Other words to describe Joseph come to mind.

And most of the world has never heard of him. Ask people outside of the morridor who Joseph Smith is, and most would probably reply

Give me a hint
Is a sports star?
Is he a singer?
Is he an actor?
Is a politician?
Is he that guy with the cheesy used car commercials on at 2 a.m.?

This is wrong, of course, whether you believe Joseph Smith or not. Smith himself said he was BETTER than Jesus. Personally, I think the Beatles were better than Jesus, so...
