This was a real shocker to me. My TBM FIL and his wife each year buy a cheap piece of Utah property that has a high sales price on it but a really low cash price.

They then donate the property as in kind as tithing to TSCC for the inflated value and use the receipt from TSCC as a tax donation off their taxes.

What I want to know is why the fukk has he not told me about this great scam.

I saw this with stocks all the time when I used to prepare taxes. If someone has stocks that have appreciated in value, they will donate those for tithing instead of cash so they can deduct the value at full price without having to recognize the capital gains on their taxes.
