And a good time will be had by all - to honour Andrew (Bart) Simpson and raise money for his foundation.

Are any RFMers taking part in this worldwide event?

Hi there girlfriend! We had a lovely sail on the lake and learned that we may well have broken the record. This was a worldwide event and felt so good to be a part of. When are you coming over to join in the fun? You are welcome any time.

Hugs,

Briggy

I'll also be sailing in this on the Isle of Wight.

Hi Peter - what are you sailing? We are in a Miracle, Laser and grandson in his Oppie. It is going to be a fantastic day and the weather is looking okay, maybe not quite enough wind but we'll see - have to check the guru for tomorrow.

:-)

Hi Briggy,

I sailed in my Shadow Cat. It's a single handed catamaran in case you don't know. We had more than 100 people enter on what turned out to be a perfect day - sunshine, plenty of breeze and bacon butties before the start.

It felt great be part of something like this.

Hi Peter,

We had a blast - wind picked up nicely once we got onto the water. I'd love to sail a Shadow Cat but being an inland water club they aren't allowed, though we've a couple on the boat park.

I was crew today with son at the helm, grandson racing us in his oppie. We had about 80 registered including crew so the lake was quite crowded, 2 general recalls at the start (we share some of the guilt) but we had to shorten the 5 lap course to 3 as the wind dropped again. We made a decent account of ourselves I think but will have to wait until central scoring do their sums. Hurray for sailing!

Hi Briggy,

Glad the wind picked up for you. There is nothing more guaranteed to make me lose my sense of humour than the wind dying mid-race. We have really strong tides in the Solent so if you aren't going forward you're drifting backwards at a decent speed.

I wonder if either of those shadow owners would be interested in selling their boats?

Cheers

Pete

I could find out who owns them Peter and ask the question.

Hi Briggy,

I'd value that. Perhaps you could email me on prbowen@gmail.com.

There are some great pictures of our event here:

Hi Peter,

I just love your gorgeous blue water and fleets unsullied by algae and goose poo. However, we have a fantastic inland waters club with a great atmosphere. Not too many pictures uploaded yet but here is our contribution so far:

Wasn't it great to be a part of such a heavily supported international event? I would love to know the final boat count for the day.

Happy sailing!

Briggy
