I liked her in King of Queens. She seems like she has spunk, or at least plays someone like that on TV.

She just broke with Scientology, because it breaks families apart.

Good on her!

From the article online:
"She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt," a source is quoted as saying in Page Six. Specifically, Remini had "questioned the validity of excommunication of people," the source says. "She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of 'religion.'"

I may be an atheistic-agnostic, but I have to say - Thank the freaking lord Jesus that Leah has finally left that freaking cult!

I have always liked Leah as an actress, & it always disturbed me that she was in the Scientology cult. There are a few others that are still in that I wish would leave like Danny & Chris Masterson.

Yayayayay!! I was just telling my friend the other day that she is a Scientologist!

I have a great interest in Scientology because my father was briefly a victim of this vicious mind bending cult and they fleeced him royally. I've written about his experience in a previous RFM post.

As the article states, Leah Remini's biggest "error" in Scientology occurred when she innocently asked where David Miscavige's wife was during the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. David Miscavige's wife, Shelly, introduced Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes -- so naturally, she would be there at the wedding of the couple.

Also, as the wife of the Leader of Scientology, you would assume that Mrs. Shelly Miscagive would be there by his side at such a high profile marriage.

She wasn't at the wedding that day because she disappeared from the face of the planet! She hadn't been seen since 2007. I myself think that she is dead.

For asking an innocent but "low ranking" and potentially embarrassing question, actress Leah Remini was punished cruelly for many years. I am so glad she finally resigned!

Here is the chilling story behind Shelly Miscavige's disappearance:

Thanks I did not know the back story. I'm also off to read what you posted about the fleecing of your Dad by the scientologists. The similarities are there and strikingly so. I remember as a TBM I read about Tom Cruise and John Travolta and the cog dis kicked in because that was a cult but Mormonism has a hold like that on its members and my loved ones.

On YouTube, there's a very long interview with Jason Beghe (spelling?) Where he talks all about leaving scientology. I always thought he was an amazing actor, totally underrated. It was very interesting to hear him talk about how you can force your mind to believe things that just don't make any sense, and how grateful he was that David Duchovny wouldn't give up his friendship with him, even though scientology demanded that he not mix with anyone he wasn't trying to bring into it. (Sound familiar???)

Yeah, I had followed his career since George Romero's "Monkey Shines" & I didn't even know that he'd been in Scientology until he left & made that video.

Thank you, you go Leah- down with all religions! People should just start calling them clubs and get-together Sunday fundays and activity night Mondays and singles club that wants a virtuous relationship Thursday nights.

Forget about all the details, they are mostly made-up anyways. All you have to do is raise your vibration, stop the jealousy, and just have a fun productive life. Tarot cards and astrology are cool too but only if you use them for good and not evil things. I would suggest looking where your Saturn was at your time of birth

Saturn's apparent movement is so slow as to be uninteresting.

I like astrology so sorry to all those that don't care about the heavenly bodies out there that emit energy and are fun to wonder about- but not manipulate people over. That's not fun

I just read a follow-up link that discussed why Tom Cruise's wife wanted sole custody of their six-year-old child Suri.

It's because she doesn't think it right that children should be subjected to interrogations by church officials to check their loyalty.

Sound familiar??

Whoa. Those Qs would cause any child to reflect on all their insecurities, create self doubts and dependency on the Scientology nanny for positive reinforcement.

I was surprised to see all the celebrities associated with Scientology. It's like, they target the high net worth and vulnerable. I wonder how their financial statements look compared to Mormonism's?

http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/celeb-news/reports-leah-remini-leaves-church-scientology-over-growing-201853933.html?cache=clear

Tom Cruise
John Travolta
Kirstie Alley
Beck (musician)
Elisabeth Moss (from Mad Men)
Doug E. Fresh (claims to be first black Scientologist)
Erika Christensen (my fave on Parenthood)
Jason Lee (my name is Earl star)
Greta Van Susteren
Ethan Suplee (also from My Name is Earl - the dimwitted brother)
Jenna Elfman
Danny Masterson, Christopher Masterson (Malcolm in the mIddle)
Laura Prepon
Juliette Lewis (used Scientology to clean up her drug abuse)
Catherine Bell (JAG and Army Wives)
Nancy Cartwright (voice of Bart Simpson)

I think celebs are more susceptible to this kind of mind control because they already isolate themselves and really depend on the few people in their life who are supposed to look out for them (manager, mom or dad, other celebs who've been through what they go through I guess).

The sad part is that a number of the people on that list were actually raised in it - the Masterson brothers, Erika Christensen, Beck, etc. Even Leah was raised in it.

to Scientology in exchange for fame and fortune -- being part of the upper echelon of celebrity society.
How do you think Will Smith is so successful? You forgot him on your list, BTW

Except, Will had a 20+ year extremely successful career without Scientology.

Travolta was down & out for most of the '80s & early '90s even with believing Scientology.

And what these rich and famous folks experience with Scientology is much different from what the rank and file experience.

They are ones in Crazy Central and likely to get thrownn in the "hole".

If you want to understand the depth of Scientology corruption, you will want to read about "Operation Snow White."

This 1970s coordinated Scientology operation "included a series of wiretapping, infiltrations and thefts from 136 government agencies, foreign embassies and consulates, as well as private organizations critical of Scientology, carried out by Church members, in more than 30 countries; the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history with up to 5,000 covert agents."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White

Take a look at this you tube video of the leader of Scientology, David Miscavige, ranting on about the responsibility of all Scientologists to spread their special knowledge across the planet, because only they have the answers to mankind's problems.

Then it gets better. The footage [beginning at 6:16] shows Tom Cruise babbling on about his "ethics" and how when a scientologist drives past an auto accident it is his duty to stop, because only he [as a scientologist] can really help.

Leaving mormonism sucks big time, but to be honest i think its much worse for many of the people who leave scientology due to prosecution (and persecution), shunning, interrogations, work camps, owed money, etc. There are many fascinating youtube videos and books (e.g. "going clear") about this cult. What a horrible institution. Glad one more person escaped and gave a bit more shame to that organization. Can't wait for Tom Cruise to leave and bust a hole in their PR department.

a year or two ago, I came across this series on Scientology by the Tampa Bay Times. It was eye-opening. I knew it was a ****** up cult but not this over-the-cliff whacked.
