So, haven't stepped foot in a meetinghouse in years and this past month, wife got a b-day card from bishop. So did my 20-y/o son who was only blessed and never baptized. Then we got an invitation to stake conference (oh, and it sounds EXCITING, ooooo! they're going to go over Handbook 2, that inspired manual!). My 20 y/o son got one too (so, yes, they track your blessed but non-baptized kids as adults). Then, DW got a card from her assigned friends, I mean her VTs (one of whom we spotted at our evil non-Mo church's community fireworks event in July).

Talked to a guy who's real active at our non-Mo church, but whose dad baptized him as a Mo when he was 11. He got a birthday card and a stake conference invite, too. He's like, what's up with all that, and how do I get off their mailing list? I pointed him to the resign link here at exmormon.org.

Is this just our local stake, then, or is TSCC going full-bore? Are they desperate? What's the deal? Whatever, it is, I guess it beats the mishies knocking on the door. DW laughs and throws the stuff in the trash, but she won't resign.

When DW stops laughing, she will resign.

I can always hope.

We should hold this up as an example every time that someone asks "Why should I resign if I can just be inactive?"

I got a birthday card this year for the first time in several years and I resigned 2-1/2 years ago.

They're given general directions as to what the church's current push is, then it's up to them to make up some crap to accomplish it. Re-activation usually includes some sort of uninvited, intrusive communication with anyone they think might be a save-able lost sheep.

I wonder just how many silly schemes have been thought up, implemented and then dropped because they never work, they just annoy the inactives and exhaust the members.

There was a business card from the missionaries left on my door the other day. It had a photo of the local meeting house with an invitation to attend services.

How does an adult resign if they haven't been baptized and was blessed as an infant? Would both parents have to resign to effectively have the adult son taken off the rolls?
