It's Sunday morning, the kids are playing happily and not being kept still for 3 hours, and as I have a few minutes to spare I thought I'd shout out to anyone else not being kept still for 3 hours in this jolly part of the UK...

Hellooooo there Claire. Good to know you are well and enjoying life away from the smoke, closer to this end. Derbyshire is a lovely county and hope you are happy there.

I am well despite a health issue that is being managed by wonderful people. Hoping to remain chipper and fine.

Lovely to hear from you.

Briggy

I just had the happiest time reading this thread with different female British accents in my head.

Saying "hey" from across the Atlantic.

Hello to you too toto!

As for accents, if I could sound like anyone I think I'd choose Joanna Lumley. :o)

Not that any kind of cancer is "lucky," but some is worse than others.

Tell her to stay strong and get well soon.

No not now, but one line of my husband's family is: Hull from England! So I feel a kinship!

My ancestors are from Hull/E. Riding, so if you know any Crackles or Middlestons, say HEY! from little ol' me (on the west coast of a different continent).

Nice to hear about some of the links to this area of the world. Sadly I don't know any Crackles or Middlestons but I wish I had the name "Crackle"...

I believed Hull was grim until I actually went there! Cobbled streets, and so many old buildings. Perhaps the locals like to keep it a secret.

Growing up our nearest 'large' place was Swindon, which really has nothing to recommend it!

Hull gets a bad rap for all kinds of stuff, but I love the place. The cobbled streets and old buildings are just the start, we've got museums, William Wilberforce's house, City of Culture stuff to look forward to in 2017, and it's where Mick Ronson of David Bowie fame was born...

I was in Hull Second ward, born into it, unfortunately.

Mick Ronson's mother, Minnie,is a very good friend of my mother; she actually taught him in sunday school when he was a very young boy. Whilst Bowie was raking it in, Mick was driving around in a clapped out old vehicle (apparently mick used to say that Bowie wouldn't give you the drippings from his noser - a notorious tightwad.

These last two posts intrigue me, as Hull 2 has been our ward up until we left recently, and we have friends who come from Bridlington.

I'm betting I could name a few families from the Hull stake and Bridlington branch and you'd recognise them...
