I think the biggest thing was overcoming the pioneer heritage of my family. I was the first one in my family to leave. There were jack Mormons among us, to be sure. But I was the first one to openly reject everything. Being a pioneer is equally exhilarating and terrifying. My job is provide support for those in the family who are leaving. I think they might have an easier time than I did, because they aren't the first.
