I have a question about polygamy.

We all know the Lord commanded the Prophet to marry many wives (D&C 132).

But knowing the emotional hardship and psychological duress this would put the women through, is there any record of the Lord consulting with the Prophet's chosen ladies to let them know their marriage would be okay, and that He as their Lord God approves?

Some apparently prayed about it and received some kind of confirmation...or they were just really afraid that they would be held accountable for the death of the "prophet" at the hands of the sword-wielding angel.

Would a loving god institute polygamy in the way that it happened? Absolutely not. If it was necessary, I would send an angel to the women, asking them if they'd be willing to participate, and have them approach the prophet about it.

No honest person can read D&C 132, think for more than two seconds about them, and come away believing that those are the words of a perfect savior. Those are the words of an abusive husband, and anyone that believes otherwise is deluded. As for the RLDS that believe the words didn't come from Joe, and that he never practiced polygamy...also deluded.

Chump pretty much nailed it. Especially "No honest person can read D&C 132, think for more than two seconds about them, and come away believing that those are the words of a perfect savior."

Basically, the "confirmation" received was because of the circumstances surrounding the proposition. It really boils down to an abuse of power. These women believed that JS was a real prophet of God and kept on praying and having faith until the answer (in their minds) made them change to be open to polygamy/polyandry. It's really sick which is why it is on the top of my list for getting out.
