Amen. All religion for that matter has some Scam-like elements. Similar to what George Carlin said. God is inefficient and always begging for money via the churches.

This is an important issue. You're not buying a car you're deciding on truth about God. It's sad that Mormons don't even know what they're supposed to believe.
I think 'almostamormon' simply means that most people outside of Mormonism don't know the first thing about it.
I've been thinking about starting a thread called 'Mormons I Have Known' to bring this point home. As a never mo I have known about ONE Mormon individual/family per DECADE of my life.
Only when my life got tangled in their web did I start paying any attention.
most of the world neither knows nor cares is a true statment. I visit this forum because I was stumbled upon by a missionary sister, I am a life long atheist so was " up for " a few lessons to see what yet another crazy religion thought.Prior to that fatefull evening I had no idea what mormons believed. I vaguely remembered from Hitchens god is not great that some bloke called smith stuck his head in a hat and tried to seduce other guys wives but couldn't even remember his christian name. Sorry if christian is an insult I have heard mormons don't like to be grouped in with the harlots of the earth. The only thing that draws me here is 1) is joseph is a clear fraud and yet people believe. 2) the missionaries I met pretended to be sincerly nice people.
Mormons who live outside of Utah or the mountain West seem to realise their religion has strange cultish aspects and don't talk about it very much. It's a different story on the other side of the Zion Curtain.
