I am working working on a book and I am asking everyone to help list all of the doctrine that is unique to mormon belief that they now shy away from because they are attempting to be perceived as mainstream christian.

I believe that I have most of the topics, but don't want to leave anything out.

Adam/God doctrine - look this up on Wikipedia for a pretty accurate description. Brigham Young spouted this off, and all subsequent Mormon prophets have been downplaying or denying it.

They are now denying the top level celestial kingdom-ers get their own planet to run

Ummmmmmmmmm errrrr ... How Much TIME do you have?

God is a man, and he lives on a planet.
People live on the moon (dressed like Quakers)
People live on the sun.
Multiple gods

etc..

Jesus was once a man just like you
Song of Solomon is not an inspired book
The BOM is the most correct book on the face of the earth
Women are called from the ground by their husbands to join them in the celestial kingdom
Marriage is a requirement for exaltation
Blacks can be in the celestial kingdom as servants
Self exaltation is a partial requirement for salvation. You pay part of your way there and Jesus makes up the difference.
What the current prophet says is considered scripture unless he is speaking as a man.

-Polygamy in the next life. (Proven, a man can be sealed to more than one woman if he is widowed or divorced, but it doesn't work that way for women.)

-God came down as a man and had sexual relations with Mary.

-Gays can be members, as long as they don't do anything gays do. (They muist remain celibate)

-A person leaving the church automatically under the power of Satan.

-Criticizing church leaders is evil, even if they are wrong.

-Masturbation is a serious sin

-Oral sex between marrieds is sinful (This has been less emphatic of late)

-Members must pledge everything they have, even their lives if necessary, to the church. (Not Christ, mind you. The church.)

-You are commanded to read about the church only from church-appoved sources. The scriptures and official current curriculum, mainly. You are cautioned that non-authorized sources are inspired by....wait for it....SATAN!

I think they are still teaching:

1. TSCC will never be destroyed because it is the last dispensation before the second coming.

2. No one can enter the highest glory with the approval of Joseph Smith.

3. Polygamy is continued - as of now - in celestial kingdom and will be practiced in the millennium.
