The other thread on this subject closed, but I just had a thought on it. The church says if you're cremated, you're supposed to be dressed in your temple clothing.

But won't the temple clothing prevent your body from being burned up? :-)

I'm so confused! I don't know whether to ask the prophet, or pray about it. :-)

On a related note, I witnessed a bunch of whole garments being burned in a bonfire. They caught and burned hot and fast.
I mentioned to my friend that it made me wonder how they were supposed to protect from fire, etc., if they were so flammable.
Crickets...

Well *obviously* they were not being worn by a worthy member at the time, duh. ;)

My dad recently died and my TBM siblings were adamant that his garments were 'burned'. And ditto, the only thing that would have made them burn faster was dousing them in gasoline first. And the acrid smoke was horrible. It ruined a perfectly good fire pit evening.

I don't think magic underwear will prevent your body from being burned up....if you're already DEAD!!!

LMAO....this is way too funny!

This is how it works. I think a lot of folks don't know what happens when a body is cremated. Everything is burned - all that remains is pulverized bones. It looks like gray sand.

Burning polyester releases toxic fumes.

I suppose I'll eventually find out. One of my TBM uncles, with whom I am very close, has informed us that he is to be cremated. He doesn't want his family to have to go through the expense of buying caskets, vaults, and so forth. Some mortuaries will even have rental caskets which can be used for the viewing, if the family chooses to have one.
