I talked once again to the manager who interviewed me the first time. My "Thank You" card already arrived. Out of everyone they've interviewed I stand out from the rest. I go in wearing my Sunday Church clothes.I've seen other people going in shorts, tank tops and jeans. They definitely want me. So tomorrow around 11am, I'm going to be calling their banquet manager and tell her I want to work banquets. Another hint is that I need a black shirt.

At least this is positive news. BTW, I've not paid the morg any tithing etc..during this time!

My dad says that applies to full time employees. Hopefully it'll apply to part time employees as well. Given the current economy.

If you work hard, keep a good attitude - that's a great way to be hired for full time employment with them when something opens up.

Best of luck to you.

In Burley, Idaho, nothing is too much of a commute (unless you live out in the country somewhere...).

It's only 6 miles from our house to there. 2 of which are in the county.

My 17 year old son has been working at a local Perkins since the end of the school year. He's part-time and hasn't been offered benefits or paid vacation. Though they do get half price food FOR BREAKS, and he really likes it there.

What the heck do they mean by "Competitive wages" since your son works there? Thanks!!

The term "competitive wages" means that they try to pay in line with what other employers offer for similar jobs. It may or may not be true. Restaurant work tends to not be very high paying unless you have a job that garners tips (I worked as a cook for a restaurant years ago.) It's possible that they may offer you less than you were earning at the hardware store.

Good luck to you, SII.

A job is a job. It's really bad out there looking for work. As long I don't lose my Social Security all over again. I'm really close to getting it back. It's just a matter of when! As of next month, I've been without my Social Security for 9 months!! I've been unemployed for almost 6 months. I've been looking everywhere in my area for a job!! I only get a meager $100 a week with my unemployment. Which is going to expire in 6-7 weeks.

I understand, SII. I hope that you get this job. If for some reason you don't, check to see if you can renew your unemployment.

I already did that. Unless the government is going to extend unemployment for those who lost jobs in March 2014 , I'm SOL in a 6-7 weeks.
