In regards to working banquets there. I'm going with my job coach. I have 8 weeks of unemployment left.what after I run out of it?? Of course I'm applying for other jobs as well.
You might have to move for work. I don't know if you own or are paying off your home, but renting it out and moving may be an option.
Are there any jobs in the Canadian oil sector?
Here in Australia people fly into jobs on remote gas fields or mines. You work maybe 3 weeks then get a week off and fly home.
I know that there are welders who work here 28 days then fly home to IRELAND for 9 days. There are jobs in the kitchen and housekeeping too. All big money because it's long hours and away from home, but all the accommodation is air conditioned, with cable TV, internet, top quality food and flights tax deductible.
Many mines here employ women for train or heavy truck drivers.
I suspect remote Canadian oil shale mines might operate similarly.
SouthernIdahoInactive has several disabilities that would make the kind of work you've suggested a poor fit for him. And he lives with his father and sister and they rely on him for quite a bit.
But your suggestions might be a great fit for someone else who's looking for an adventure!
