Quotes about faith from the early fathers and saints of the Catholic Church. Being a convert to the Catholic Church, I've been reading books on the early fathers and saints of the church about their lives and faith. Many of these people lived during the medieval period. As I read, I realized that some of the ideas and quotes of these early leaders sounded familiar. It dawned on me that I have heard the prophet and other LDS leaders using them. Makes me wonder who else they have plagiarized.

Much of mormonism is plagiarized - the Book of Mormon, use of standard Christian hymns which were written before the supposed "restoration", the temple ceremony, symbols, regular quoting of C. S. Lewis as if his beliefs match mormonism, and on and on it goes. Even the music for "If You Could Hie to Kolob" comes from an Irish folk tune -http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_of_the_County_Down

Based on my personal observation, mormonism does not encourage or support true creativity.

There is no vow of creativity in the temple endowment. It's all about obedience and sacrifice. Individual thought by members is discouraged.

I would love to see an example or two of this type of plagiarism. Can you cite anything?

I know much of the music of Mormon hymns were originally hymns from the Church of England. I used to think about it when singing them having sung in the Episcopal Church prior to converting to the LDS. I realize many early church members came from England and brought the music with them. I now sing again with an Anglo-Catholic parish and I think about the LDS hymns when I sing the original hymns in our church services.

This is because TSCC receives so much revelation from their god they have no time to think for themselves.

The "Pride" talk by Spencer W. Kimball is sure looks like it's plagiarized from C. S. Lewis' "The weight of glory"
