I received this email over the weekend from our EQ President:

"Dear Family & Friends,

We need to keep our children and grandchildren away from watching the VH1 channel. Please pass this on."

Apparently a new naked dating show is going to be airing soon. I doubt I would have ever known it was going to be on TV but I will be setting my DVR now for sure.

I can think of lots better reasons not to watch VH1.

Don't they realize the more they "advise" against the more people will want to see whats is going on. I know even though I don't watch Vh1 I will definitely be watching now lol

In the 70's there was a letter sent out church wide to not watch a certain tv station. They asked everyone to write a letter telling the station they didn't approve. Apparently the station had decided to air R rated movies.

The station ignored the mormons. The mormons gave many talks about the last days being upon us.

Hell, I called my kids and told them TO watch it.

Here is a link. It aired/airs on Thursdays - www.vh1.com/shows/dating-naked

Of course, all of the private parts were pixilated out...but you were still able to see the dreaded naked porn shoulders.

It is a little irresponsible of the networks to show as much plain out sex on tv now days (have you seen Salem?) without allowing condom commercials to air. The only time I see an add on is way after the fact when I would already be in bed, or on the couch, or table, or where ever a tv isn't.

Speaking of nudity, this is one of me and my wife's favorite shows to watch together. These people are crazy.

When I was in High School, the "brethren" warned us not to watch the show, Soap. We didn't even have TV at our house, but I loved to babysit. I remember being a goody goody, but I watched that show every chance I got. I guess the seeds were there...

Funny since Soap had a mormon actor in it who played Peter in the temple. Gordon Jump later played on WKRP.

Soap still stands as one of the sitcoms of all time. Even the best shows are occasionally hit and miss, but Soap had a perfect track record--not a single badly written episode.

My mom got mad at me every time she caught me watching it, but I LOVED this show.

Soap had a gay character in it. Even then it was closeted.

Jodie, played by Billy Crystal, was out. In the first season, it was his boyfriend, a football player, who was closeted.

This show was laugh-out-loud funny and was a don't-miss for me in its original ABC run.

Soap was a great show! I was just saying on another thread that I watched it with my dad. He was very TBM but he loved it.

To follow up, my dad would watch Soap but when they finally got cable they would not allow MTV. Back then MTV was actually about music. It had to be someone in the church that cautioned them against letting us watch MTV.

Yeah, I remember a woman I visit taught was aghast that they actually had a cable station that had videos to songs and that some of the videos were 'suggestive". She warned all of us NOT to watch MTV. haha

I had a bishop tell us that So You Think You Can Dance was not appropriate because it showed too much skin...

But nothing was said about the survival show "Naked and Afraid" which has featured LDS contestants.

In the late-1960's, my mother wouldn't allow us kids to watch the TV show "Julia" because it was about blacks.

Unfortunately it was off the air by 1978 when "God changed his mind about black people."
