I must wonder if LDS general conferences recorded from the past would also be considered inappropriate viewing.

It is too bad we do not have video of Brigham Young recieving revelation and preaching his journal of discourses.

Mark Peterson's racist rants, or Boyd in his glory days is probably something LDS Inc would like people to forget.

On this thread I'd like to shout out for adult animated TV:

Family Guy
The Simpsons
American Dad
Futurama
Cleveland
Boondocks
Bob's Burgers

These are all very funny and would no doubt offend anal TBMs. In my youth all we had was the Flintstones. Which was acceptable to the scolds and pretty damn lame.

I'm going to politely disagree and say it's the Venture Brothers.

But Dr. Venture reminds me too much of my ex-husband both in facial expressions and whinyness. It squicks me out, lol.

Big Love!

I finally got around to watching it. It's free now with Amazon Prime.

It has every idea we ever discussed here about Mormons wrapped up in it. It's set in Utah, which made me a little home sick. And to my surprise, I thought it made polygamy look revolting rather than romantic. It's all about getting stuck in a marriage with people you don't like and didn't want.

Also, add
Firefly/Serenity
Carnivale
Battlestar Galactica, both series, Kolob indeed

I am in love with the new Amazon Prime program with instant view. I am dumping netflix.

It has all the British shows and is so well-organized.

Much better value for the money.

In my TBM family growing up we were forbidden from watching the following: Married With Children AKA The Bundy's (now looks rather tame compared to today's TV, TBS airs it at 2am weeknights!!) , and The Simpsons! They're might other shows but I cannot think of them at the moment!!

I sometimes wonder how my TBM family let me and my siblings get away watching "War of the Worlds" and "Friday the 13th: The Series" with all of the gore involved!!??

I was very skeptical when my RM son said I should watch Dexter one time when I was visiting him... I mean, a show where the "hero" is a serial killer? How far had my son fallen?!!

That first episode had me hooked, I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was my guilty pleasure!

Then I left the church, and I'm not guilty anymore.

(Oh... and Firefly/Serenity!!!! I'm STILL in mourning.)

Inappropriate TV would be the BYU channel

My father's favorite channel. It's like waterboarding lite. He enjoys reruns of great BYU sports events, interspersed with bad doctrine and geriatric filibusters.

I'm not exmo, but I wanna chime in...

My favo show of the moment: "Borgen", from Denmark, with English subtitles. Don't know what TSCC would think of it, but it's not Disney, subplots involve sex outside of marriage, so I guess it's "adult". Season One now available from Netflix on DVD. A bit like House of Cards, (which I love), but less dark. Also a bit like The West Wing, but better. You learn something about a European version of democracy, in some fundamental ways very different, and in other ways very much the same as the American version.

Overall Themes: Politics and the media, ethics...but each episode seems to have a distinct sub-theme of it's own.

EDIT: come to think of it, TSCC would definitely not approve of Borgen: the Danish Prime Minister in the series is a woman. :) I don't think they would be comfortable with the series' overriding thematic focus on ethics and democracy, either...

My aging father still hates "All In The Family" - it was a major turning point in American TV.

I just finished three seasons of a British comedy called Cold Feet. All of my other favorites have already been mentioned.

Soap was one TSCC said not to watch. I used to watch it with my dad and we laughed and laughed. I think my dad would have been a lot happier without the morg.

Add me to the Firefly/Serenity fans. Someone at work recently got me hooked on it.
