I just heard her on our local public radio station as a panelist on the subject of Mittens' lack of addressing his Mormonism. She is super articulate and perfectly groomed on the right thing to say to soft peddle Mormonism to middle America. I've never seen anyone put a polish on a turd as well as she can when it comes to Mormonism.

If I were at the COB or on Mittens' campaign staff I'd make her an offer right away. A shill this good should not go unpaid.

Yes, she's also my wife's strongest excuse to stay in the church. When one cog dis testimony seeks reassurance from an even bigger case of cog dissed testimony, something ain't right.

Modesty: I went to her "ask" site and read a few minutes. I'm not sure how anyone can hold their composure on the subject of "modesty." Just the thought of a male telling me what I should be wearing makes my blood boil.

But she handled it with tact and polished the turd right up.

When she's challenged about something that should be obvious grounds for discord, she'll resort to a subtle, essentially narcissistic use of her own situation and beliefs to use as a dishonest counter-ploy.

An example would be church dogma about how women should obey their husbands and stay home and be care-givers to their children...

She'll reply with something like, "That would be news to my Jewish husband."

Mormons have always "stood behind their women," particularly when there's shooting involved...

Why don't a bunch of exmo journalists interview her?

The one that gets my blood boiling is when one of these slick Willies says, "This view is quite common across fundamental religions nationwide."

As if that were an excuse, an indulto, an explanation.

Oh yeah, their sordid history on polygamy, translating non-existent languages by non-existent people, covering up massacres, building masonic lodges for sucking tithing out of members...

Sad. Just sad.

intelligent, but naive. She doesn't seem to realize how atypical her perspective and experiences have been. She admits she doesn't speak for the church, and that she doesn't have any official capacity, but she IS speaking for the church-- just like the Osmonds and Steve Young spoke for the church. Non-members don't care about church press-releases, they barely register on their radar. They do read RD blogs and editorials.

I'm sure she's very nice, but it's aggravating to read her rationalizations and rhetoric anymore. It amounts to consistent misrepresentation of what Mormons generally believe, experience, and do.
