We hiked the Battle of Monmouth Historic Trail. It was the first time was came almost to parity. Eleven girls and twelve boys, camping out for two nights in tents in New Jersey.

Not to fret, thank God for the Republicans and other global warming denyer, it would have been warm for an April campout.

Anyhoos, there's this library book of Twilight laying on the ground and I go all "who's reading this mormon porn crap and bringing it in my van?"

Turns out it was the youngest, a nine-year old girl. Personally I think it's great a nine year is tackling a book that size.

Which got me thinking, what the heck was I reading back in the third grade? I'm guessing Hardy Boys and other psuedonym writers for hire stuff like Tom Swift et al.

And that's where are folks, Mormon porn like Twilight is the Nancy Drew of our age.

must have walked within 20 yards of it, and no.

major clusterfuck with the OA running the Historic Trail.

probably three hours behind schedule at that point.

but the next day we did the walkover tour of the Battlefield.

A great trip, all in all.

Since when are there co-ed scouts? Man, I missed the boat.

we've had a co-ed BSA scouting program for about ten years.

my daughters all made it to First Class, then they joined the Venturing Program since earning merit badges don't count.

I've been active on this board long enough to assume that regulars know I am a nevermo.

I am generally more curteous than my response to you would suggest.

But an apology to you is warranted.

Are you writing to the veterans? I thought the same thing as templenameaaron. If you tell a story you really should give some background and not take offense so easily... People need clarification. I need that often, background is needed I feel for new people leaving in droves. I feel they are... lurking in a good way.

I don't know people on here. Your screen name is familiar but who has time to go search people's name in that search box.... I like to read the current topics...what is hot now?! Do you go pick up a People magazine from a month ago? I am not retired so I don't have as much time either.

I was new not too long ago and found everything pretty confusing....and trying to figure out...ohh..huh...this person knows this person? What is their story...ohh...too many missing pieces, but that's okay I still would get what they were saying. I think

I enjoyed your story and I did laugh when I read Mormon porn crap and bringing it in my van! --haha

I read the first Twilight and was like really?? This is all the craze?

I didn't find the love story convincing, and there was very little character development. I have watched all the movies cause they have given me a great laugh, also knowing she went to BYU makes me as SusieQ#1 would say- snicker. ;)

I wasn't speaking directly to you scooter but in general terms. There are so many people on here and I get them confused. I don't expect anyone to know who I am.

haha, I just re-read...an apology to you is warranted, I like that.

Saying sorry, thank you, please(and really meaning them)-- to me, makes a world of a difference in my life. As a Mormon, I took a lot of things for granted, I was a very sad person. I feel like in a sense I am learning to walk again emotionally, mentally, and more fully.

I was reading The Three Investigators in the third grade. My son is reading the 39 Clues. I cringe at the thought that Twilight is considered advanced reading.

That IS a sad state of affairs. What drivel. I think Nancy Drew is a better choice, she at least took action instead of moping around whining.

The best ever vid, Buffy vs Edward the Creep

I was eight years old, and thought I might get in trouble (with who? The kiddieLit CIA?) for reading those books when the back covers specified the ages of 10-14. I was also reading The Great Brain series, which was my first exposure to Mormons. I always thought those books had a weird vibe to them, now I know why.
