wondering out loud here...

I don't know why I didn't think to ask this before, Why it hasn't come up:

Isn't the selection of Mormon leaders...
attorneys, CPAs, other business ppl;

Is (isn't) that a reflection of the Black/White, Right-Wrong mentality that saturates the Morg today?

If not, what else would it be a reflection of?

It all traces to money. I couldn't see a teacher or janitor as GA.

Money for sure; but also, social class and family, ...

...since most American GAs are called from the same pool of old Utah Mormon families.

A teacher or janitor who won the lottery might suddenly have plenty of money, but still would not be called as a GA.

In our branch/ward we had as BP/Bishop

A school teacher, a factory hand, a draughtsman, a marketing executive, a cabinet maker, I think.

So quite a mixed batch. This is in the UK,so might be different.

From my experience, it seems bishops and stake presidents get called from all walks of life. To get called above that - mission president, GA that business success is more of a requirement.

Probably didnt have many americans about. Here we had busnissmen till an american guy who was totaly unsutable got in. He stayed around for a wile then became SP. He's bettr in the job but not good. I dont see any other reson for him to be in thie job than he's american.

The current Bish of our neighborhood is a high school janitor (insert Adam Sandler joke here). There are not too many guys in the neighborhood here that have not already been bish who would bow down and kiss the sp's boots the way that the current guy does.
