That's right, my young son is now a Deacon in the Mormon church and now holds the very real, very powerful Aaronic Priesthood. At least I think he was "ordained". I didn't witness the event because I didn't bother to attend. He was late for dinner because he had to collect fast offerings so I guess that settles the question.

Perhaps I should have gone, but I just couldn't suck it up. I did talk with him last week and asked if he wanted me to be there. He was cool with my absence and I made it clear it wasn't because I didn't love him, it was because I just don't believe and as a result I'm uncomfortable at church. I just hope he starts to get uncomfortable at church too.

I do wonder if I was discussed. My wife's folks were there as well as a few other friends of the family. I assume his grampa or his older brother did the ordination. Did the blessing include a guilt trip about bringing his wayward father back into activity? I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I really hate the stupid mormon cult.
