I know a TBM couple with 4 kids (ages 18-4) in UT and they are going to start counseling (ward paying for first couple sessions apparently). The issues in the marriage are around a lack of trust/respect on both sides, he travels for work often, she feels like single mom sometimes, perhaps even a lack of commonality even though they both agree family absolutely comes first. No porn/affairs or anything like that, just a couple that probably married too young and 20 years later this is where they are. I wonder how much being TBM will factor into their counseling and whether counseling helps with this (I don't have any experience, that's why I'm asking).

If the couple WANTS help and WANTS
to try and change, therapy can be phenomenal. But...
the teacher is only as good as the student. Further, with such a large family, young marriage, and lots of travel... The relationship often takes a back burner to life. That's the problem.

You can pick up so many awesome tools through therapy that can help strengthen a relationship. Everything from building trust, enriching the connection, developing more effective communication, increasing sex life, etc. Effectiveness can depend on quality of therapist though. A good therapist should have the couple building their skills and improving their relationship from session one.

Does this help address question?
