are like fruit flies as well. Both are a nuisance. It's not often I agree with a TBM.
----------------
"Defending Free Will: A Fruit Fly Makes Choices" is the headline of the Reuters story about scientists who think they may have seen evidence of free will in fruit flies. This has profound theological implications, of course. If fruit flies have free will, then is it such a stretch to believe that free will may also exist in Mormons?"

Fascinating - and funny. When the experimental environment the fruit flies were placed in was described as "all white" I immediately thought 'temple'.

Fruit flies in temple garb, hanging out the celestial room.

Random ridiculous thought for the day...

The flies have receptors which are hardwired to lead them to certain chemicals. If there are two of those chemicals available they just fly randomly to wherever the input of that chemical is the greatest.

Mormons have receptors for Mormon memes. Everything has to fit the Mormon memes or they are not attracted to it. They flit to wherever the Mormon memes are the strongest. :-)

It's a brain wiring thing. Mormons can forge new neuron pathways with some effort (we all did). Fruit flies probably can't- the brain structure isn't there.

You have to admit another thing they have in common: fast and efficient breeding.

And they're hard to get rid of.

so, they lay their eggs in the good fruits, and their larvae eat and then poop all thru the fruit, so no one else can have any?

I can imagine fruit flies knocking over delicately balanced tiny pebbles and erecting a miniature flag atop a pile of produce. Though the lettuce wilt, do what thou wilt.

Wait, nobody has mentioned the breeding parallel yet?

True that! Fruit flies can lay up to 500 eggs in their lifetime, which is less than two weeks!
