This Is Not The Place | Mass Resignation from the LDS Church was created in response to the recent wave of prominent Mormons who have advocated for change within the LDS Church who are currently facing excommunication. These people include Kate Kelly, the founder of the Ordain Women movement, and John Dehlin, a prolific writer, researcher, podcaster, and leader in the online LDS community. This event will take place on July 24, 2014 in Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

Participants in this event are members of the LDS Church who find that their personal beliefs, perspectives, and hopes for change within the LDS community and institutions match those of the individuals who are facing Church discipline. As such, they feel the Church is sending a clear message that this religious community is not the place for Mormons like them. Since the outcome of these disciplinary hearings are undetermined, participants will wait until the pending excommunications are confirmed in the end of June to submit their letters of resignation at the July 24th event.
