Anyone know where a church created source is that contains this admission by Smith?

I believe that the best source for information on this is D. Michael Quinn's "Early Mormonism and the Magic World View." Quinn was director of the graduate program in history at BYU before leaving in 1988, and eventually being excommunicated in 1992.
