A fb friend just posted this article:
http://www.firstboynton.com/2012/04/04/let-them-come-home-john-and-abraham-piper/

John Piper, famous conservative author, apparently excommunicated his own son and his son eventually came back into the fold.

Here is how Abraham begins his story about his "falling away."

"When I was 19, I decided I’d be honest and stop pretending I was a christian. At first I pretended that my reasoning was high-minded and philosophical. But really I just wanted to drink gallons of cheap sangria and sleep around. Four years of this and I was strung out, stupefied and generally pretty low. Especially when I was sober or alone."

Now, I believe he finally just gave in and is buying into everyone's faith again, and he's choosing to look at his story through the lens of "I could never be happy without God..."

But it makes those of us who have left God behind look like all the stereotypes say they are. And I kinda want to punch him for that.

"I decided I'd be honest" says a lot to me.

Not sure how to respond to this...

One thing to note is that you're reacting to an article that's 7 years old. There's got to be some kind of statute of limitations that would prevent a face-punch this long after the fact. ;)

Well, I'm glad he has Jesus if it keeps him from drinking gallons of cheap sangria. :/
