I just finished a book by Jocelyn R. Zichterman called "I Fired God." It is a story of how she, her husband and 8 children left a sect of the Independent Fundamental Baptist Cult/Church, one worse than LD$, at least in my experience. She talked about the total control her husband had over her and how all the "church" teachings reinforced that, as did the leaders. Long story short, I found it very inspirational to read how this minimally educated woman "woke up" her better educated husband and broke free from that cult. She overcame a brain tumor, depression AND the cult and went on to write a book and become a voice for justice.

Once she left, her depression lessened, which has also been true for me. Gives me hope that I can recover some of myself, too.
