"Father" my ass. The way tscc presented "god" made me very worried I was a dissapointment to him. Particularly because I am not married. Pppfffttt!

It always made me think they sound childish. Like they're afraid of saying the g word.

I hate heavenly father.

He's a deadbeat dad.
He impregnated his daughter with himself (yuck).
He doesn't appreciate fine wine.
He can't follow an R-rated movie.
He prefers the company of men who kill their sons.
He refuses to socialize with other gods.
He thinks Utah is a pretty cool state.
He doesn't "get" off color jokes.
His only friend is a ghost.
He's afraid his church will get sued or ridiculed.
Anyone can squeeze salvation out of him with simple obedience to his lackeys.

A hateful person, all in all.

He's fickle too.

One minute he hates his black children the other minute he decides they are ok.

One minute he lives on Kolob, the other minute, he does not teach that.

One minute the Lamanites are the ancestors of all native Americans, the next minute, they are among the ancestors

One minute the BoA is scripture, the other minute, nah, just joking.

One minute in the BOM, polygamy is an abomination, the next minute, he gives additional wives to JoJo, BY, and company

I've heard it used by other clergy outside the LDS church....that doesn't make it any more palatable.

The term "Heavenly Father" doesn't make me shudder near as much as the phrase: Dear Kind and Gracious Heavenly Father...

I always had difficulty with the term Heavenly Father, simply because like many women of my age group, my relationship with my own father was a distant one. Like many post WW2 men, my Dad's view of the world was highly masculinist and very militaristic. He had also developed the habit of drinking A LOT while serving in the Australian Air Force. He wasn't mean or awful, just absent, in every way. He had NO idea how to interact with a little girl.

SO the only guide I had to a Heavenly Father was an absent rather non caring father (it wasn't until I was quite a mature adult that I realised it wasn't that he didn't care, just that he was totally unskilled in saying or showing it - plus due to his alcohol addiction, the bottle came before everything else - that is just how it was!).

Today I use the term God, it covers any form of HIgher Power and fills my needs.

I do not like the term Heavenly Father. Why? Because he reminds me of my human father.

The difference between my father and Heavenly Father, is that one is a narcissistic, patriarchal,self-important, arrogant, demeaning, sexist, violent, abusive male who demands that I cringe in subservient submission to him, while the other is my Dad.

I didn't ask for all of you brats, it turns out there is no such thing as a pill to stop spirit babies from being made, and well, I am surrounded by all of these babalicious spirit wives and I have...needs. What would you do?

Why isn't it "Celestial Father"?

"He thinks Utah is a pretty cool state."

Not because of Mormons or Beehives......

He created all those Arches, Canyons, beautiful Deserts...

Then again, we humans created a "Cesspool" called Lake Powell.

I literally cannot. Stand. The term. But even worse is when Mormons refer to God as simply "father," and to Smith as merely "Joseph" or "the prophet Joseph." *shudders*
