It's all a painfully thin veneer....

I've worked with the severely mentally ill and sexually abused kids for years now. Everything we think makes us superior as humans is brand new in an evolutionary sense. We're not as different from weasels as we'd like to think.

Some adverse life event, and illness, a stretch of bad luck, some seriously unfair treatment from an entity you can't fight. That's all that stands between me and you and those people I work with.

Sorry to be a downer. I am so lucky to have the things I have in life. We all are. I hope we use our benefits to our own betterment and the betterment of those around us every day.
