deconverted2010

The Mormon Church's Materialistic Moneyed Myth: The Lie of an "Unpaid Clergy" . . .

The two who made between $160k to $199k were probably the regional authority Seventies in the area...

Why do non-Mormoms post here?

by peaceout2012

I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just curious as to why people who have never been member of the lds church feel the need to post on a recovery board. I guess I can understand a nevermo wife or husband. Please explain how you can relate to those of us trying to recover, vent, laugh, and move on. I know this sounds rude, but I really don't get it.

Oaks Admits Apostolic Arrogance.

by baura Mar 2012

The Mormon-sponsored Youtube video of Oaks admitting the Church is losing the 20-30 year old men he makes an interesting statement. He talks about AFTER he was called to be an apostle he was assigned to the missionary committee and told to assign missionaries. He claims he asked Bruce R. McConkie, "how do you know where to assign them?" The answer is telling: It starts at about 3:00 in the video:

what was your first reaction when you learned the truth about Mormonism?

by nitsua6554 Mar 2012

When I first started hearing the truth I had such bad anxiety I couldn't sleep. All I could think about was "oh s***."

T_Shirt contest for the mall of the Lard!

by Mormon Observer Mar 2012

Jesus wants me for a shopper to shop for him each day.

I figure I've given $100,000 in tithing. Am I alone? What have others given?

by doubleb Mar 2012

Just curious how much has been given cumulatively by exmo's. I figure that I gave about $100,000 before pulling the plug. You? Anyone know precisely what they gave?

Yep, Toilets need cleaning at the ward level. (Mild Rant-no language)

by Lost Mar 2012

At 5:45AM this morning, the good ole missionaries dropped by to wake up our entire household.

Reason for their visit? Our Bishop Jackwagon wants Brother Lost to honor his Priesthood covenants (I thought I had lost those cause I had resigned?) and CLEAN THE CHAPEL before the meetings start this morning at 9AM. Apparently, the bathrooms need special attention, since the toilets are backed up.

by Changed Man Mar 2012

"Recently, the Center for Disease Control revealed that Utah ranks No. 1 in terms of the number of residents contemplating suicide. The Utah Department of Health Violence and Injury Prevention Program reported that Utah has the eighth highest rate of suicide for adults in the nation, and suicide is the second leading cause of death for Utahns ages 15- 19.

The church now denying they ever taught the whole man becoming a god thing?

by normally a lurker Mar 2012

[Mormon Scripture] D&C 132:20 Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them.

Botts BYU Briefing about Blacks Brews Big Brouhaha Mar 2012

by baura Mar. 2012

Randy Bott, a BYU [Mormon University} professor of religion, told the Washington Post that the LDS [Mormon] Church’s historic prohibition on priesthood ordination for men of African descent was a “blessing” to blacks because they were not 'ready' for priesthood authority. “'God has always been discriminatory' when it comes to whom he grants the authority of the priesthood, says Bott... until 1978, the Lord determined that blacks were not yet ready for the priesthood"

This just in: new tithing slips Feb 2012

By Dallin A. Chokes

Printed on the slip: "Though reasonable efforts will be made globally to use donations as designated, all donations become the Church's property and will be used at the Church's sole discretion to further the Church's overall mission." So, the days when you thought you could give to a good cause (i.e., NOT tithing) and hope it would end up somewhere good (Perpetual Education? Fast Offerings?) are now over. Here's my money...let's hope you do something good with it.

I was born into a cult but I have never been LDS - Christadelphians

by Amellifera Feb 2012

I realize this isn’t a space created for me, and I hope I’m not intruding. I’ve spent the past 3 days reading this forum. My husband doesn’t understand why I’m so fascinated. He thinks it has something to do with the fact that we live in Utah. It doesn’t, really, though I found this forum because I was curious. The major reason I’ve been reading your discussions (in all of my free time for the past 3 days) is because I was born into “The Truth” as well. Though they call themselves Christadelphians.

Mormon Missions cut short for medical reasons

by Just Once Feb 2012

I've been struck by the seemingly high number of missionaries returning for "medical reasons."
What's the deal? What's actually going on? Is there something going on we're not aware of? Or have missions actually become more dangerous?

Comparing Weddings Mormon versus non-Mormon

by Anon67

Hey, I've been reading a bit into Mormonism as some of you had suggested. I was wondering what is the difference from a temple wedding than a regular wedding, besides the eternal seal and not allowing non-Mormons. Is it different vows or is the ceremony all together different?

Mormon Endorsement of Hitler and the Nazis

by steve benson Feb 2012

Below are examples of the LDS-owned "Church News" and "Deseret News," etc., going on record endorsing the "inspired" Adolf Hitler on the Word of Wisdom; anti-Jewish genealogical research; the Nazi straight-arm salute and organization; plus several LDS Church member compliments of der Fuherer.

Mormon Seminary Student is angry after learning Joseph Smith had teenage wives

by thedrive Feb 2012

Our daughter attends high school with a fair number of LDS kids. They all attend Seminary across the street form the school on the local Ward building and generally hang out together at lunch and at school activities- kind of their own little clique. There is one girl that has some "Gentile" friends of which my daughter is one.
