: Two things:
: - I think I'm a pretty typical pot smoker. I usually take two hits a day. Not even close to a whole joint. I'll stick my neck out and opine that the typical cig smoker smokes more than one cig per day. I appreciate the risk of taking these chemicals into the body, but the typical comparative doses are much more disparate than this report implies.

I respect your views on the issue and for the most part agree with you when it comes to making a personal choice to partake of or to abstain from. However, my contribution to the discussion focuses on who stands to benefit from the legalization of medicinal marijuana use. When it comes time to drafting public policy on the issue, your argument here
will not tolerate scrutiny. With the edict "First do no harm" in mind, anything which must be smoked will not qualify as a medicinal. As I explained to Chris, while there may be proponents of medical marijuana in the AMA, its governing board will rule on all proposals for its use based on their scientific merit and not their ideology.

: - Is it not still true that there has never been a case of cancer that has been attributed to marijuana smoking and/or use?

Well I suppose you could go ask the surviving relatives of reggae musician Bob Marley who died of lung cancer at age 44 after smoking ganja every day for 20+ years.
