The fact is that tobacco and alchohol are already legal. Realistically we can't turn back time and draw the line before those two "drugs". I see nothing wrong at all with legalizing the medicinal use of marijuana, but personal experience has taught me that drug use is not the same as smoking cigarettes or eating too many oreos. I've come too better understand why government and regulation is necessary. I know you've probably read about the sacking of Rome and the subsequent "Dark Age," so you know what I mean.
By the way, what does the label "McCarthyist" have to do with any arguments I make regarding the legalization of drugs? I used communist insurgencies as an example to illustrate a point. My BA is in International Relations -- what I've learned about politics is that all governments and politicians bear some degree of bloodthirstiness and guilt. So why do you ask if I am a McCarthyist? Are you a communist or did you just come to the wrong conclusion?
