Certainly the Creationists would welcome a similarly worded discalimer in the front of all their Bibles:
This is a book of stories, not a history or a work of science. It contains the accounts of many events which are impossible or extrememly unlikely given our modern understanding of the laws of nature. Since they were not written by eyewitnesses and cannot be verified through external evidences, the creation, Noah's Ark, the Tower of Babel, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and other tales should be studied similarly to the mythology of other cutures, and not as facts.
The purpose and meaning of our existence, mankind's search for God, how we should live our lives, how we should live with our fellow men are some very important questions. As possible answers, this book contains the thoughts of men who lived thousands of years ago. Some of their ideas are of value, but others may be contradictory or irrelevant to the modern age.
There are many questions about God which are not answered in your Bible, including:
— Why does God not make his existence provable, and his true nature known?
— Why are there no more miracles or prophets in the modern age?
— Why does God allow the righteous to suffer and the wicked to prosper?
— Where did God come from?
Study your Bible in conjunction with the works of other philosophies and cultures. Keep an open mind, and do not reject something simply because it initially appears blasphemous or offensive. Someday you may find answers that give you a meaningful life and further our understanding of the reality we live in.
