Read "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis
: : : john; and of course what the bible says is the truth? you of course are a believer in the existence of jesus of nasareth. i am not. you believe because it is in the bible, but i would like further evidence. outside of the bible there is no evidence for his existence. if you can find some i would be interested.
: : This places an unnecessary restriction on evidence. How much evidence would it take? For you, more. For someone else, more still. Why? Because Jesus is a historical figure. Short of you going back into time, you really have no reason to believe anything you haven't seen yourself.
: : It seems that you are a saying that there could be a point where you would actually be more confident about his existence. But that doesn't sound objective. It sounds like there are evidences of degrees. Waddaya think?

: (Robert)I have no issue as to whether or not Jesus actually lived and was a historical figure. I believe that the proof that would be required for non-believers would be proof that Jesus was supernatural, i.e., rose from the dead after three days, performed supernatural miracles, etc.
