"Understood only by a few" -- The Flat Earth Society, the Mormons, and SGI also claim to be the "Elite" few. So, there needs to be some other factor if your faith is to be responsible.
Also, "intelligence isn't the litmus" -- thinking clearly is a negative for your definition of God and spirituality? Is one better off with muddled thinking?
