Actually, this 'friend' is also a relative. Should I broach my real thoughts on Mormonism with him, things with extended family members would go from bad to much worse.
Whenever we (my wife and I) have discussed the topic with friends and family members we are careful to not give any details. When pressed for details we provide a disclaimer asking something like, "do you *really* want to know the details of our studies even though you are happy in the church?". So far, no one has said 'yes'. Ignorance is not only bliss for some. but it also keeps our good relationships in tact.
