There doesn't seem to be much room (in *my* real life world) for a heavy duty skeptic/doubter who has sympathies for religion or at least religious life. The believers are uncomfortable that I do not accept their mythologies and the nonbelievers simply dismiss out of hand the notion that religion can be useful and fulfilling. The is what I see happening around me right now as I become brave enough to open my mouth about these subjects (at church or with neighbors/family). Is there a middle ground? I'm hoping that I'll start recognizing my fellow fence sitters as time goes on...
