I'm just going to have to disagree with y'all. There are moral absolutes, and slavery is one of those things that is wrong.

While I agree that slavery is (and always has been) wrong, I can't understand how a Bible believer can believe that slavery is a "moral absolute". If slavery is absolutely morally wrong, then so is the Bible.
