Anyone who appreciates the US Constitution as it is currently had better check out this proposed amendment to it. After reading the amendment and some of its supporting argument, I was left with the impression that it was an unnecessary modification at the least and an effort by the religious right to nullify the First Amendment at the worst. Suffice to say that I fear what might happen if this thing should pass. Just how close would this proposed amendment bring the US to being a theocracy? I'm sure we shall hear more about this as it comes up for vote in the House of Representatives next month.
