I'm not sure about the Don Henly story. We attend a UU fellowship fairly regularly. Since UUs are BIG into Emerson and Thoreau nearly everyone in the congregation has visited Walden Pond. They say it is has gone down hill over the years because of all the tourists and because of pollution in the pond caused by local businesses. Emerson was actually the owner of the land where Thoreau built his cabin and wrote his most famous piece.
