Well, I guess we’re going to split hairs. If you mean religion like I do, as in the fundamentalist movement, then that is a true danger. It is a definite impediment to real progress and enlightenment. We need only look at the "dark ages" of European history to see that the real growth for the USA is more due to it’s separating itself from that religious legacy. If you mean the simple self delusion of average people who cannot think in the abstract and therefore need a childish comfort, then perhaps it may not be quite so bad as I say, although the jury is still out on that also. Then the next question should be asked, Does monetary success equal enlightenment.
