: : Can you describe one (hypothetical) new observation or experimental result that would disprove, or even challenge, the claim of intelligent design in nature?
: How about wasteful wiring in the nematode, the Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve and the Ansa Subclavia, the mammalian retina, mammalian male nipples, the appendix, the coccyx, the hyoid bone, the earlobes, extinction in general, and a host of other items that George William's mentions.
Oh, rpcman, you always ruin it for the rest of the class! ;)
What I'm getting at is this: Is this "theory" of intelligent design constructed in such a way that it assimilates those observations? If the theory accepts as part of its assumptions that man cannot fully understand the designer's creations, then all of these examples of wasteful wiring and unused hardware are beyond our comprehension. If this is the case, then intelligent design is unfalsifiable in principle and no different from all other non-scientific creation myths. Let's just invite Pierre, our Raelian friend, to jump into the discussion for variety ;)
