Another interesting topic Tipler discusses is the application of the Turing test -- essentially any being (or machine) that can pass this test is considered a person. This is fundamental to understanding how future computers could emulate our minds, thus recreating us as "persons." I had to go back and watch Blade Runner after reading about the Turing test.
