Frank J. Tipler: The Physics of Immortality

Has anyone read this book. I think the guy was much impress by VGER of Star Trek The Motion Picture.
The "Machine" has all the knowledge possible to get and asked the question;
Is this all there is. The "machine" wanted to link with the human "creator"
Tipler says that eternity is to be DATA in a universal computer. It look
more like science-fiction than science to me. What do you think.
